Habanos Añejados – in English maturation stored Havanna cigars – is a new product concept of Habanos. At least five years the cigars produced completely by hand mature under perfect circumstances before coming on the market. The start of this new line is the Romeo y Julieta Pirámide (band size 52, length 156 mm), rolled in 2008 and thus even already maturation stored for seven years! Thus this year is on the bottom of the box, supplemented by “Revisado”. This stamp confirms that all cigars are once again thoroughly inspected one by one before they are transported to the shops. Unique about these cigars is, however, not only the fact that they are maturation stored. Also the format makes them something special, because it is not part of the standard range of this brand. The Romeo y Julieta Pirámides come out as a one off and in a very limited quantity. A second band and a sticker on the lid of the box designate them as “Habanos Añejados”. The boxes with 25 of these wonderful cigars are typically decorated with colourful lithographies. These lithographies were put on after the maturation storage, which gave the cigars subtle, woody notes which lay for years in the unstickered cedar wood boxes.
